Into the Fire

From battling wildfires that threaten mountains and communities to responding to devastating structural fires and emergency rescues, this collection documents the men and women of the Western Cape's firefighting services on the frontlines. Working in extreme heat, hazardous conditions and often with little rest, these firefighters risk their lives to protect people, property and the natural environment. Through moments of action, exhaustion and quiet determination, these photographs pay tribute to the courage, professionalism and sacrifice of those who answer the call when disaster strikes.
